When the original piece of bog oak was stood in the workshop I could see the beak and the elegant curved neck of a Crane - the long necked bird that stands gracefully on river banks. In February 2024 it was reported in the media that Ireland's first breeding Cranes in three centuries are located on a bog in County Offaly.
