The slender pieces of bog oak of varying length fell to the workshop floor when I was sculpting another piece. When I stacked them they were like steps of stairs or young children in a family. I profiled the largest piece into a female form silhouette and this evolved into a mother and two children out for a stroll with the mother protectively looking down on them. The bog oak base has a unique twisted shape and grains showing the evidence of having being compressed and preserved by the bog peat for thousands of years.
