This was a large, heavy, twisted and gnarled piece of bog oak when we found it in the bog. The piece has amazing offshoots of hard and jagged oak going in every direction combined with incredible grains, twists and curves probably created by 100's of years compressed in the bog - while the underside is relatively flat and smooth. From first sight I could see the outline of a fox and when I started working on the piece I could see had just caught it's prey and had snared a bird in it's mouth. The fox lost it's tail in transit home from the bog but I managed to retrieve and re-attach it!
