In the old stone out-buildings beside my workshop there are shelves of old broken retired tools and agricultural implements. Discarding and waste was frowned upon by older generations. Reuse and sustainability was commendably the norm long before the current environmental necessity. "Don't throw that out - you never know what that could be used for yet" was the anthem! I came across this bill hook blade that hasn't slashed and cut ditches and briars for many decades. I had this this wonderful bog oak offcut on the workbench with its unique lines and cracks and I married it with the bill hook with its man made swan like neck. A strange but yet a compatible connection between the millennia.
